SGR in collaboration with Local Government Hispanic Network (LGHN) is proud to present the Legendary Leaders Series, a six-part webinar featuring a series of interviews with successful local government leaders from our own communities.
Kicking off our first webinar will be Legendary Leader Major F. Riddick, Jr., former Chief Administrative Officer for Prince George’s County, Maryland. A little about Major:
Major’s career has been a series of firsts and forward pivots into excellence. He was the first African American to serve as the Governor’s Chief of Staff in Maryland, and the first African American appointed as Chief Administrative Officer for Prince George’s County.
He has served Prince George’s County government for 19 years, working his way up through the ranks from an entry-level position in the Office of Budget and Management, through Executive Director of the Housing Authority, Director of Housing and Community Development, Director of the Office of Budget & Management, and he now serves in the highest professional position in County Government – Chief Administrative Officer.
Prior to serving as CAO in the County for the second time, Major became CEO of the Management Consulting Firm, Strategic Solutions Center. Major understands the crossroads between business and government and he aides his clients in improving their strategies to do business with state and local governments. Major is also the Managing Partner of Great Foods, LLC, a multiple franchise owner of quick-service restaurants at B.W.I. and Pittsburgh Airports.
Major earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and his master’s degree in Public Administration from Virginia Tech. He is also an alum of the J.F.K School of Government, Harvard University’s Executive Leadership Training Program.
